VELDBRAND TUSSEN STILBAAI EN RIVERSDAL DUUR VOORT

Die veldbrand tussen Stilbaai en Riversdal is tans nog onbeheerd. Brandweerpersoneel van Hessequa munisipaliteit, Eden Distriksmunisipaliteit en Working on Fire werk in skofte en is daar tans 12 brandbestryders, 40 Working on Fire en 4 Hessequa munisipailteit personeel op terrein. Brandbestryders op grondvlak en in die lug doen alles in hul vermoë om die brand te probeer stuit. Die vuur beweeg nou terug vanaf Riversdal in die Stilbaai rigting en is strukture en rietdakhuis steeds in gedrang en swoeg lugbystand en grondpersoneel steeds om die vuur te blus.

Die bloedige hitte voorspelling en sterk winde belemmer steeds die werk van die brandbestryders.

ʼn Versoek vir die skenking van enige drinkwater, ys, oogdruppels, koeldrank en sjokolade wat energie verskaf is ontvang van die brandbestryders. Donasies kan by die Beheerkamer te Riversdal afgelaai word of munisipale kantore te Stilbaai en Riversdal.

Burgemeester Grant Riddles bedank die gemeenskap vir die kos, water en bystand wat al aan die nooddienstepersoneel tot dusver verleen is. Die gemeenskap se ondersteuning en bydra word op die hoogste vlak geprys.

VEGETATION FIRE BETWEEN STILBAAI AND RIVERSDALE CONTINUES

The vegetation fire between Stilbaai and Riversdale is still out of control. Firefighters from Hessequa Municipality, Eden District Municipality and Working on Fire has worked not stop to contain the fire amid strong winds. Currently 12 firefighters, 40 Working on Fire and 4 Hessequa personnel is on site. The winds have pushed the fire away from Riversdale back toward Stilbaai and has placed structures and thatch house in danger. Firefighters are doing everything in their power to try to stop the fire.

The sweltering heat forecast and strong winds continued to obstruct the work of firefighters.

Donations of drinking water, ice, eyedrops, cooldrinks and energy chocolates are welcome. Supplies can be dropped off at the Control Room in Riversdale or at the Stilbaai of Riversdale municipal offices.

Executive Mayor Grant Riddles has express his gratitude toward the Hessequa community for the support and cooperation during this crisis.
