Overberg Water’s reservoir that supplies water to the Municipality was cleaned yesterday morning, 18 January 2022. After the reservoir was cleaned, Overberg Water informed the Municipality that the reservoir must first be filled and that the water supply will be opened at 20:00. However, Overberg Water later indicated that the reservoir’s level was still low and that the supply would only be opened at 22:00 last night. Hessequa Municipality’s technical staff immediately began opening fire hydrants to flush and bleed the reticulation network to remove air from the pipes. Due to the size of the water reticulation network, the staff worked throughout the night to remove the air still present in the network. Currently, certain areas in the Oos Dorp have water and certain portions still have no water. Two water trucks will circulate to supply water to the community until such time that the issue is resolved. The reservoir level at Overberg Water is still very low and we therefore urge the community to use water sparingly.
