Our technical staff is working around the clock to ensure that the water supply is restored. Water is currently being transported by three large trucks from Riversdale and pumped into the reservoir using small trucks and the fire brigade to address the water shortage. Two 10 000 litre water trucks are supplying water to the community.
The reservoir level at Overberg Water is however still very low and due to the high temperatures we are currently experiencing in Heidelberg, the demand is far higher than the supply. At this stage, the municipality can only supply water to the eastern part of Heidelberg and the western part is currently still experiencing water interruptions. We appeal to the public to reduce water consumption to enable us to meet the demand.
The following water trucks are being utilised:
George: 35 000 L
Garden Route: 7000 L
Morning Milk: 26 000 L
Swellendam: 22 500 L
Fire Brigade: 2x 7000 L
Hessequa Municipality: 2 x 6000 L
Hessequa Municipality: 2 x 10 000 L
