The Executive Mayor, Grant Riddles, is pleased to announce that Mr Albertus (Albert) De Klerk has been appointed as Municipal Manager at Hessequa Municipality and will assume duty on 01 July 2022 after Council approved the appointment on 28 April 2022. Mr de Klerk has 30 years of extensive knowledge and experience in local government.
After obtaining his BCom Financial Accounting degree, De Klerk gained experience in the private sector before joining the Zamdela Municipality as Chief Clerk of Finance in 1992. He worked his way up to Chief Financial Officer at the Midvaal Local Municipality in Gauteng in 2001 and was appointed Municipal Manager at the Midvaal Local Municipality in 2008.
Under his strong leadership and sound governance, Midvaal Local Municipality achieved seven clean audits and received an award for Best Quality Life and Most Financially Sustainable Municipality in Gauteng. In 2021 he took over the reins as Municipal Manager at Langeberg Local Municipality.

HESSEQUA MUNISIPALITEIT VERWELKOM NUWE MUNISIPALE BESTUURDER
Die Uitvoerende Burgemeester, Grant Riddles, is bly om aan te kondig dat Mnr Albertus (Albert) De Klerk as Munisipale Bestuurder by Hessequa Munisipaliteit aangestel is met ingang 01 Julie 2022 nadat die Raad die aanstelling op 28 April 2022 goedgekeur het. Mnr de Klerk het 30 jaar se uitgebreide kennis en ondervinding in plaaslike regering.
Nadat hy sy BCom Finansiële Rekeningkunde-graad verwerf het, het De Klerk ondervinding in die privaat sektor opgedoen voordat hy in 1992 by die Zamdela Munisipaliteit as Hoofklerk van Finansies aangesluit het. In 2001 is De Klerk as Hoof Finansiële Beampte by die Midvaal Plaaslike Munisipaliteit in Gauteng aangestel en in 2008 as Munisipale Bestuurder.
Onder sy sterk leierskap en gesonde bestuur het Midvaal Plaaslike Munisipaliteit sewe skoon oudits behaal en ‘n toekenning vir Beste Lewenskwaliteit en Mees Finansieel Volhoubare Munisipaliteit in Gauteng ontvang. In 2021 het hy die leisels as Munisipale Bestuurder by Langeberg Plaaslike Munisipaliteit oorgeneem.
Ek is vol vertroue dat Albert ‘n groot impak sal maak en voortbou op die goeie fondasie wat reeds in plek is. Verwelkom Albert saam met my in Hessequa.
