The Department of Transport and Public Works as part of their EPWP Contractor Development Programme will now recruit candidates/contractors for our 10 month Structured Training Programme, scheduled to start in September 2019 until June 2020. The final schedule will be posted to qualified contractors in due time. Find attached an application form if you are interested to apply. We will draw up a long list of candidates from the application forms and continue to shortlist the final candidates after we have received sufficient responses.
The training will be for ten months, one block week per month. So in reality it will be 10 weeks. The training will be accredited and will have a theoretical and practical component. Candidates will have to attend all ten weeks to qualify for a Certificate of Competence. NB* you must be willing and available to spend one week per month away from your family or business at the training venue.
The training will be held at one central venue and the Department will provide transport and accommodation for those who are chosen for the programme. We will confirm the details of the venue and final schedule to qualified contractors in due time.
To apply for the Contract Development 10 week/month training programme you must have a registered construction business and have an active Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Level 1-2 registration
If you are a CIDB Level 1 Contractor then you must at least have 2 years working experience in the industry.
You must have not attended a similar programme with this Department and or any other Department in Government
You must be based in the Western Cape
You must have a valid South African Identity Document
All application forms must be complete in full and accompanied with the following documents:
- A clear and Certified copy of your Identity Document
- A short CV (not a company CV)
- Certified copies of your latest or highest qualifications (e.g. School Certificate, Short Course Certificate/s, Diploma/Certificate, Degree etc.)
Once received the Application form will go through a stringent process of assessments and verified by a Selection Committee who will draw up and approve a shortlist of contractors.
Shortlisted contractors will thereafter be notified and asked to complete a letter of confirmation and return to the Department within a specified time period. Failure to do this will result in the application being cancelled
