CITIZENS CAN HELP SECURE HESSEQUA’S WATER RESOURCES

“We all need to THINK WATER. Level 3 Water Restrictions remain in place for the entire Hessequa region. Although many community members are diligently saving and conserving water, there are many that are not. Help us to preserve our water supply by changing the way in which we use it and reducing our daily usage,” said Hessequa Municipal Manager Johan Jacobs regarding the municipal effort to secure Hessequa’s water resources. The latest dam level reading, which is taken weekly on Monday was Korentepoortdam 41.42% and Duivenhoksdam 60% on 10 December 2018.

The municipality had posted the restrictions’ implications for water users on the municipality’s website, on social media platforms and advertised on radio stations to spread the word.

Mr Jacobs appealed to all residents, businesses and visitors to not only save water, but to also spread the word of the restrictions and their implications. “We appeal to every person to help us preserve our water security. You can make a tangible difference by sticking to the restrictions and making sure everybody you encounter knows that we have restrictions in place.

“We all need water and we will all be equally affected if it is no longer available – let’s work together to save as much water as we can, every day, on every occasion,” said Mr Jacobs.
