The Hessequa Municipality received a clean audit report from the Auditor-General (AG), Kimi Makwetu, for the 2017/2018 financial year. This is the FIFTH consecutive year in which the municipality attained this exceptional achievement under the capable leadership of Executive Mayor Grant Riddles, Speaker Andrew Stroebel, Municipal Manager Johan Jacobs, CFO Lien Viljoen, Councillors, municipal officials and external Audit Committee.
Only 18 municipalities were able to achieve a clean audit status of which twelve are in the Western Cape and include the local municipalities of Hessequa, Swellendam, Witzenberg, Bergrivier, Breede Valley, Cape Agulhas, Cederberg, Matzikama and Overstrand.
“The best practices at these municipalities included stable leadership that is committed to a strong control environment and effective governance,” Makwetu said.
