The impoundment of dogs/animals is the responsibility the pound master and law enforcement officials in the Hessequa area.
All efforts are made by the officers to track down the owner of the animal before it is removed from the area and taken to the pound.
All animals are logged in the pound register for record purposes.
Animals are well cared for at the pound. Images and information are placed in the local newspaper for adoption or to locate the animal’s owner. If the owner of the animal cannot convince or prove that the impounded animal is their pet, the owner must make a statement at the police station and provide the pound master with a copy of the signed statement.
If found that the person had not spoken the truth, criminal charges against him / her to be brought.
